This Privacy Policy explains how Philogica handles information when you use Trylingual.
Trylingual stores lesson progress, learning preferences, selected language settings, locally generated lesson content, notes and highlights, and audio cache files on your device. Where you choose to enter a third-party API key, the app stores that key locally on your device so it can make the request you initiated.
Trylingual can use your device’s built-in text-to-speech and speech-recognition features. Microphone and speech-recognition access are requested by your device only when you choose a feature that needs them. Speech recognition is used to show you a transcript for practice; Trylingual does not use it to identify you.
If you choose a cloud text-to-speech provider and configure it with your own credentials, the text you ask the app to speak and the selected voice settings are sent to that provider to generate audio. Current optional providers are ElevenLabs and Microsoft Azure Speech. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
If you choose to configure the optional AI phrase-generation feature with your own API key, Trylingual sends the generated lesson prompt—such as target vocabulary, language pair, and lesson difficulty—to Anthropic’s API to create practice phrases. This feature is optional and is not needed for the core app experience. Anthropic’s handling of information is governed by its own privacy policy.
Philogica does not sell your personal information. Trylingual does not include advertising or third-party behavioral analytics in its current release.
Data stored by Trylingual remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app. The app provides a clear-data option for learner progress and generated content. You can remove API keys and disable optional cloud features in the app’s settings. Requests made to optional third-party providers are subject to those providers’ retention practices.
You may decline microphone or speech-recognition permission, disable optional cloud features, remove API keys, and clear local app data. To ask a privacy question or request assistance, contact us at philogicasupport@gmail.com.
We may update this policy when Trylingual’s data practices change. We will post the updated version at this page and revise the effective date.
